Preparations Under Way at Rocket & Space Industry Research & Testing Center for Fire Tests of URM-1 Universal Rocket Module for Angara Family of Launch Vehicles

Following the completion of preparatory efforts at IS-102 Integration and Testing Facility of the Rocket & Space Industry Research & Testing Center (Peresvet, Sergiev Posad District, Moscow Region), the URM-1 Universal Rocket Module for the Angara family of launch vehicles was on January 10, 2009 rolled out and moved to the test frame for fire-testing. The article will be subject to receiving inspection, its systems will be mated to the test frame whereupon in accordance with the test schedule for the first six months of 2009 “cold” tests will be performed, to be followed by fire tests.
The tests are part of the pre-production testing cycle which is mandatory for all rocketry and space articles.
The Khrunichev Space Center is the prime contractor for the Angara project and is responsible for its design, development and testing.
The development of the Angara family of boosters is a task of national importance. Angara’s performance characteristics are expected to compete successfully with the world’s best launcher systems.

Proton M with Intelsat-16 Satellite On Launch Pad 08.02.2010 The roll out of the Proton Breeze M launch vehicle, fully integrated with the Intelsat-16 satellite and Breeze M upper stage, to launch pad 39 (in Area 200) was completed this morning. The Proton Breeze M launch vehicle with the Intelsat-16 communications satellite is to lift off Baikonur Cosmodrome at 06:39 Baikonur Time, February 12.

Yesterday,the fully assembled Ascent Unit (made of the Intelsat 16 spacecraft, adapter, Breeze M upper stage and payload fairing) was integrated with the Proton launch vehicle.

The fully assembled AU is currently undergoing final checks.
